“I Am A Mom, A Grandma And A Veteran. Nothing Scares Me.” Steve Williamson and Karen McClelland welcome Lynn Searle, daughter of the late Dick Searle, Democratic Perspective Co-Founder and Treasurer, and Sandy Zalecki, LD1 candidate for Arizona State Representative.
When asked why she decided to run for office after a lifetime of volunteer work and business, Zalecki says, “I just want to do something that mattered.” She adds, “It seems like empathy is gone. Why should we even have to ask a candidate if they have compassion? That should be a part of it. And it just doesn’t seem like there’s that much compassion in government anymore.”
Zalecki notes that she’s a veteran, “I was in the Air Force for four years…and I did not serve my country for it to turn out like this. I don’t think the legislature is serving us the way they should.” Her biggest concerns are preserving our democracy and healthcare explaining, “We need to get back to a place where people care.”
